About Me

Dr. Bernard Koplik is presently a Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering. He joined NJIT in 1981 as Chair of the Mechanical Engineering Department and served in that capacity for seventeen years before joining the faculty on a full-time basis. Previously he held faculty positions at Polytechnic Institute of New York, Manhattan College and CCNY. Dr. Koplik’s research is focused on the analysis and design of pressure vessels and piping systems, vibrations of plates and shells and the design of endosseous tooth implants.

 Professor Koplik’s industrial experience includes positions at Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation, General Electric, Brookhaven National Laboratory, Burns and Roe and Picatinney Arsenal. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and previously received a NSF Science Faculty Fellowship. Dr. Koplik has been awarded numerous teaching awards for University Excellence in Teaching (Graduate and Undergraduate), the NCE Excellence in Teaching Award and the designation as a  “Master Teacher”.
 His professional activities include service as National Chair of the Graduate Studies Division, Member of the Board of Trustees of the Engineering Societies Library and Chairman of the Educational Affairs Committee for Region II of ASME.
