NJIT offers students many opportunities to travel abroad -- to see the world -- and to acquire an international understanding.
October 2015
On October 13, two NJIT students for the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (MIE) traveled to Parma, Italy to attend the “TrainINcoming Programme” of the University of Parma. For this program, the university picked 15 students in which amongst them were recent graduate of Industrial Engineering Francesca DeFilippis and Industrial Engineering Senior Karlas Madera.
As explained in the call for applicants, the TrainINcoming Project offers 15 trainees the opportunity to gain invaluable work experience in an international and challenging environment and to put into practice the knowledge acquired during their studies. Furthermore, the participants will be involved in a specific educational programme which will allow them to acquire the basics of EU Strategies and Policies, European Labour Law, Workplace Safety, Italian Language and Culture.
During their stay, DeFilippis and Madera will work alongside Professor Roberto Montanari and Professor Eleonora Bottani and also with a student from Brazil, one from Croatia and two home students, to conduct research on Supply Chain. At the end of their “training,” they are expected to write a paper on the findings.
And as they said, “We cannot thank NJIT, the University of Parma and specially Dr. Malek enough for this opportunity. This will definitely be a life changing experience for us!”
